Biography




Andrey Tron was born in 1960 in cultered family in Leningrad. Andrey Tron's father was the naval officer, 1 rank captain, versatilly educated and deeply erudite man. He has not only developed in the son an interest to a sea history, but also has imparted love to sea painting.

In 1982 Tron has finished art-graphic faculty of the Leningrad Pedagogical university. In student's years Tron was a prominent graphicer and connoisseur of Russian history. He painted in small formats, which require limiting accuracy from the artist.

At the end of 1984 Andrey Tron began to work as designer in a Central Naval museum, The largest naval museum of the world.

Since 1990 till 2000 he was the main artist of the Central Naval museum.

Andrey Tron prefers to work with water-colour in the traditions of old European water-colour school. In Trons admirers opinion the peculiarity of his paintings is that they are done in delicate, unique and expressive style. It is necessary to note that Tron paints with pleasure using other techniques (gouache, distemper, a pastel, coal, a pencil, oil).

By the invitation of the naval minister Tron took part in two round-the-world travels as the ship artist.

As designer Andrey Tron created the art concept of a Naval residence of the President of Russia V.V. Putin in Strelna, near St.-Petersburg.

The works of the artist are shown in the famous museums of St.-Petersburg. It is necessary to mention Naval and Artillery museums, museum of A. I. Suvurov and museum of family Benois. The water-colours of Andrey Tron are exhibited in large European collections, namely, in a collection of Herzog of Edinburgh (London), President of Russia Mr. V.V Putin (Moscow), Mr. Peter Tamm(Hamburg), baron Faizfein, in famous private collections of Hamburg, museums of Denmark, museum of Kathrine The Great in Zerbst, in private collections of Europe and America.

2003 two large sea actions took place in Hamburg. The first action has passed onboard a ship-museum "Rickmer Rickmers". The second art action "Waves on walls" was held by the invitation of one of the largest trade firms of Europe KARSTADT AG. The action passed in an exhibition facility of the Hamburg branch of a company. The artist worked on eyes for the spectators, held seminars on water-colour art. Similar actions took place in KARSTADT-shops in Luebeck and Kiel in 2004-2006.

In autumn 2004 Vladimir Putin, the president of Russian Federation, awarded Tron title "Honoured painter of Russia".

In 2005 Mr. Holger Bellgardt, the chief of Hanse Sail regatta, invited Tron to organize an exhibition in Rostock, during regatta time. Later on, another exhibition was organized in Volksbank&Raiffeisenbank, Eutin.

The same year, on request of worldwide known "Amber studio", Tron painted a number of historical reconstruction genre watercolours named "Ancient Kenigsberg.

Last years, painter has been working on requests of "Hansa Shipping" and "Blue Star" shipping lines from Hamburg. The legendary yacht "Sea Cloud" is decorated with seven of Trons paintings. Recreating image of an ancient seaport for central naval museum, he has also worked on paintings on theme "Wharfs, rivers, shipyards of ancient St. Petersburg". Tron is well known as expert on Russian navy uniform. He is working on a number of watercolours on navy uniform history for the museum.

Andrey Tron is the illustrator of the numerous books and albums. In 2004, being as the author and the illustrator, he has published two books: "Baltic fleet" and "Battle at sea: chronicle of events of the russian-japanese war 1904-1905". Professor Peter Tamm, the worlds famous collector of marine painting, spoke about those books as they are considerable and cognitive for German reader.

In 2006, the painter has organized "Marine diplomacy" exposition in Russia presidents residence, where the summit, meeting of leaders of big Eight, will take place.

The artist has already had sixteen personal exhibitions in Russia and in Germany.
